“Mananaat traayate iti mantrah” (That which uplifts by constant repetition is a mantra)
Mantras are Vedic in origin. The teachings of the Vedas consist of various mantras, chants, or hymns cognized by different seers or Rishis from the Cosmic Mind.
Every mantra in the Vedas, Upanishads, and various religious traditions (sampradayas) within the Hindu religion begins with Om or Aum—the primordial sound, the sound that is said to have its origins when the cosmos was created. An event also referred to as the “Big Bang”.
Om: The Beginning and the End
The Bible (John 1:1) says that “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”
In this Bible teaching, modern Vedic philosophers have equated Om with God. Thus, of all the mantras in the world, Om is the most vital. For nearly all mantras begin and often end with Om.
Mantropathy: Healing with Mantras
The process of healing and nurturing by mantras is called Mantropathy, which is getting global recognition now.
Brahmvarchas Shodh Sansthan in Haridwar, India, has been conducting scientific research on the healing effect of mantras, including the effect on many illnesses.
